After completing a four year Honours degree in Business at Sheffield Hallam, Jake embarked on a progressive career that included working in BP’s Shipping, Marine, Lubricants and Fuels businesses. Jake’s expertise lies in process improvement, strategy, capability building and relationship and change management, much of which was developed over eight years leading commercial and pricing projects across BP’s global lubricants and fuels businesses, improving revenue streams by $100m.
For the last 15 months of Jake’s 14 years at BP he drew on his significant relationship management experience, managing the strategic relationships between BP and its Athlete Ambassadors conferred by its 2012 Olympic and Paralympic partnership.
A keen triathlete and qualified running and triathlon coach, Jake set up a free running club at BP that grew to a regular 40 runners per week. His first sporting love is track and field, dating to a memory of watching the 1500m final at the 1983 Helsinki World Championships, and he’s been brought up being told by his father that Brendan Foster’s 10,000m Bronze in ’76 Olympics triggered his birth, 12 hours after Foster crossed the line.
